Mike O’Connor is a veteran real estate owner-operator who founded Tenova Management to redefine the standard for residential property management. His transition from property owner to management leader was born out of nearly 30 years of firsthand experience navigating the complexities of the southeastern Wisconsin rental market.

Throughout his career, Mike founded and scaled a real estate enterprise into a personal 400-unit portfolio with deep operational roots in Milwaukee, Racine, and the surrounding southeastern Wisconsin markets, which he divested in 2025. Now, through Tenova Management, he is responsible for more than 2,400 units and has built a team of more than 25 experienced leasing and maintenance professionals capable of supporting both residential and commercial properties.

He has personally overseen every stage of the residential lifecycle, from high-stakes acquisitions and historic redevelopments to the daily nuances of tenant relations and site operations. Having managed more than $40 million in development and capital projects, Mike understands that the true value of a residential asset lies not just in its construction, but in the quality of its ongoing management.

Mike’s perspective is defined by a fundamental “ownership mindset.” Having sat on the owner’s side of the table for decades, he recognizes a recurring flaw in the traditional management model: service providers who act as passive middlemen rather than proactive stewards. He understands that, for an owner, a management company should be a source of stability and asset appreciation, not a source of friction or excuses.
